Cristiano Ronaldo reignited the comparison between him and Lionel Messi by making a unique comment recently. Ronaldo, who launched his YouTube channel recently, partnered up with famous internet personality MrBeast for several videos across both their channels.
In the latest video posted on Ronaldo’s channel, the Al-Nassr star was seen taking part in a penalty challenge with MrBeast, the most subscribed YouTuber in the world. MrBeast was joined by three of his friends and four of them stood in front of the goal. The video was named How Many Goalkeepers Does It Take to Stop Ronaldo?
“Nolan says he doesn’t like you, he thinks you’re not the GOAT,” MrBeast says to Ronaldo. “Nolan’s the guy on the end over there, he thinks Messi’s better! He calls it soccer and he said Messi’s the GOAT,” the American YouTuber added. Responding to MrBeast’s comments, Ronaldo cheekily replied, “Who said Messi’s better than me?”
After enjoying incredible success on the football pitch, Ronaldo kicked off his stint on social media on an impressive note. He reached over 10 million followers within 24 hours of launching his YouTube channel. His first-ever podcast was with former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand. Ronaldo’s YouTube channel currently has 72.1 million followers.
Ronaldo is currently plying his trade for Saudi outfit, Al-Nassr. Having wrapped up his second spell at Manchester United, Ronaldo completed his move to this Asian giant. Ronaldo claimed his first trophy with Al-Nassr at the Arab Club Champions Cup last year. This marked Al-Nassr’s first-ever Arab Club Champions title as well. The Portuguese legend guided Al-Nassr to the triumph, scoring twice in a 2-1 win against Al-Hilal.
Earlier this year in September, Ronaldo became the first player to net 900 goals in official matches. Ronaldo achieved the feat in Portugal’s UEFA Nations League fixture against Croatia. He was also the first player to breach the 800-goal mark. Ronaldo had set that record in 2021 while playing for Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi is currently playing for Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami. In 2024, Messi guided Inter Miami to the Supporters’ Shield victory.
