Faisal Sheikh revealed the scam through his Instagram stories wherein he mentioned that he tried to contact the account owner.
Over the last few years, many stars have been scammed or impersonated to spread misinformation among their fans, deceiving them. The latest addition to the list is social media influencer Faisal Shaikh aka Mr Faisu. On Tuesday, Faisu exposed a fake X handle impersonating him to target his fans and spreading false news in his name.
Faisu revealed the scam through his Instagram stories wherein he said that he tried to contact the account owner. Realising that he was being scammed for money, the content creator disengaged with the account owner. He wrote, “I want to address an important issue that has come to my attention. There is an account currently spreading misinformation and falsely claiming to represent me-essentially pretending to be me. Please do not believe any content from this account, as it is not authentic. To clarify, I have only one official account on Twitter (or X), with around 12,000 followers. This account is not verified, and I am not very active on the platform. When I discovered the impersonation, l initially reached out to the person operating this fake account. However, they attempted to scam me for money, so l immediately disengaged.”
Urging his followers to report the account while also revealing that he is taking legal action, Faisu added, “Please help me report this fraudulent account to have it taken down, as it is spreading misinformation. I am also taking legal action and filing a police complaint to address this matter formally. Thank you for your support and understanding.”
Faisal Shaikh rose to fame after his TikTok lip-syncing videos became viral during the COVID pandemic. Given his popularity, he was also roped in as a contestant in Khatron Ke Khiladi 12, followed by Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10. Besides, he also hosts his own show on YouTube. It is called Long Drive with Mr Faisu. In the show, he takes celebrities on a drive, indulging in a heartfelt conversation with them about their life and career.
