Minister of state for external affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said that forming of a committee was taken as part of the ongoing security cooperation with the United States.
Minister of state for external affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh on Friday informed that a high-level enquiry committee has been constituted to examine the inputs shared by the US “pertaining to the nexus between organised criminals, gun runners, terrorists and others that impinge on India’s national security”.
Singh added that the move was taken as part of the ongoing security cooperation with the United States.
The United States recently waded into the diplomatic spat between Canada and India, urging the latter to take the former’s allegations of assassination plot of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani terrorist and a Canadian citizen.
US Department spokesman Matthew Miller had said, “We wanted to see the government of India cooperate with Canada in its investigation…We have made clear that the allegations need to be taken seriously.”
Responding to Canada’s allegations, Singh said in a statement, “Government is aware of the allegations about the involvement of Indian nationals in purported acts or intent in the US and Canada. In so far as Canada is concerned, it has presented no evidence whatsoever in support of the serious allegations it has chosen to level.”
