Lionel Messi posed like Iron Man (X)
Lionel Messi grabbed the equaliser in Inter Miami’s 1-1 draw against Charlotte FC in Major League Soccer and pulled off a marvellous celebration.
Lionel Messi scored a stunner and celebrated with an ‘Iron Man’ pose in Inter Miami’s 1-1 draw against Charlotte FC on Sunday.
Messi scored in the 67th minute and Inter Miami pushed its unbeaten streak to eight straight Major League Soccer matches. It was Messi’s 15th goal in 16 league matches this season.
Messi became the sixth player in MLS history with at least 15 goals and 15 assists in a single season — and he’s done that while missing 15 of Inter Miami’s league contests.
Messi’s goal was his typical brilliance. He took a pass near the top of the penalty box, dribbling once and threading his natural left-footed shot between four defenders and into the net to tie the match.

Messi then proceeded to put his hands by his side and imitate taking off akin to the Marvel superhero Iron Man.

But this is not the first time that Messi has done something like this.
After scoring his goals, Messi has been seen hitting Marvel-themed celebrations. When Messi found the net against Atlanta United, various reports came out that he was doing the ‘Hold my beer’ celebration pointing towards the Inter Miami owner, David Beckham. But the matter was clarified later on when Antonela Roccuzzo reposted the story with a Thor sticker indicating that the celebration was inspired by Thor recalling his hammer, ‘Mjolnir’.
Fans enjoyed the celebration but he continued the theme when he scored a brace against Orlando City FC. Messi went on to the next Marvel character, Black Panther and replicated the ‘Wakanda Forever’ pose when he scored the goal.
Messi managed to whip out the friendly neighbourhood Spiderman’s web-shooting celebration when he scored against Charlotte FC in the quarterfinals of the Leagues Cup last year.

The goal on Sunday came 10 minutes after Charlotte struck first, with Karol Swiderski deflecting a shot into the net. But Messi answered, and Inter Miami settled for its third consecutive draw.
“Obviously, we are frustrated with the three consecutive ties,” Martino said. “But the story continues.”
